Biography

John has provided real estate advisory services since 1998. He leads the real estate and hospitality valuation consulting group at Moss Adams, focusing on commercial real estate and real estate-related entities. He assists real estate and corporate clients in the development of operating guidelines for multiple purposes and assists with the application of Topic 805 (Business Combinations) and Topic 820 (Fair Value Measurement) involving a wide variety of commercial properties for financial reporting purposes. He performs single-asset and portfolio appraisals as well as internal and external appraisal management and review functions. John specializes in hospitality and healthcare properties, office, retail, industrial, multifamily, data centers, as well as land and special-use properties. He is a certified general real estate appraiser in California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Pennsylvania and Wyoming and has performed valuation work in 19 additional states as well as Western Europe, Southeast Asia and South America.

In addition to transaction and litigation support work, he has also performed operational and strategic assessment work for real estate investment companies, private equity funds, governmental agencies, pension funds, unions, and home builders.

Prior to Moss Adams, John spent over eight years with the real estate advisory group of a Big Four firm. He also served as a consultant for a $4 billion real estate investment management firm providing internal valuations for financial reporting and advisory services for pension fund clients, performing appraisal reviews, and developing policies and procedures surrounding asset management and valuation.
